The movie follows Maurice Flitcroft, a dreamer and unrelenting optimist who managed to gain entry to the British Open Golf Championship in 1976. 

A a lighthearted movie just in time for the golf season. It is based upon a true story about a golfer, an unrelenting optimist, who manages to enter the British Open and shoot the worst round in Open history, becoming a folk hero.
